In 2017, Bethany was shortlisted for Out of Joint’s WiT Award for her full-length play Tin Ghost.
Part of the play has been performed at the Phoenix Arts Club, directed by Evi Stamatiou, performed by Anthony Allgood, Sarah Mayhew, Max Calandrew and Liberty Harvey.
Tin Ghost is a family drama about the roots of Brexit. Set in Bethany’s birthplace, Clacton On Sea (infamously the first UKIP constituency) the play follows the lives of Alan and Linda as they move in together with their nearly grown up children, and try to make a new family.
Bethany wrote the first draft of Tin Ghost over ten years ago, focusing the play more heavily around the military. Since then, as the national political situation developed, she was especially interested on the direct effects it was having on the town where she was born. She therefore relocated the play there, and redrafted it several times during 2015 & 2016 as the political situation developed.
Currently: looking for a producer or company to take this play to production.
